• Janessa and James, members of the Native American Miwok Tribe, knew they wanted to get married near their home in California. It was important to the couple that there were cultural elements. The invitation suite was enclosed in a box with a leather envelope, and tied shut with a wampum shell. Cedar trees are important to their tribe, so for their escort sign, guests found their name and seat assignments carved around the couples’ names and wedding date, mounted to leather, titled “surrounded by our favorite people”. At each place setting was a linen wrapped folio style menu. On the front of the menu was each guest’s name engraved in leather. After dinner, the leather place cards were converted to keychains for a memorable keepsake. The couple also included a leather drink menu draped over the bar.
